“Try and leave this world a little better than you found it” -Baden Powell

My Climate Story starts with my grandfather, "Picho". He was a farmer that economically struggled, but worked persistently and honestly, beside my grandmother, to provide for their 10 children. He taught his children about agriculture and then he taught me and my cousins about it. When I was a kid, I remembered how excited I got when visiting the his lands as everything was greener and fresher compared to the main city. This changed throughout the years as deforestation was more evident and draughts increased affecting his crops.

He was optimistic that things would change for better, that deforestation would stop and access to water wouldn't be an impediment for future generations.

He cared for my generation. He was a humble man, but a defender of nature and biodiversity. He believed that the world could be a better one.

My grandfather principle of leaving a better world was reinforced in the Scouts throughout my youth. I'm a strong believer on leaving the world better than how we found it. This principle motivated me to learn more about the Better World Framework which focused in the SDGs. I learned about the climate crisis and how urgent it is for this generation to take climate action.

I am convinced that solving the climate crisis is a priority. It is my commitment to transform my country's climate reality and act upon climate action as I motive others through service leadership and leading by example.

My commitment is not only with myself, but also with the world and my grandfather. I will leave of my country and the world a much better one than how we found it.
